Carrauntoohil Peak
Tuesday, August 14, 2012
Our little hike on Seefin Mountain wasn't enough for Tony so when we got home from our hike he decided he was going to climb to the highest peak in Ireland, Carrauntoohil.  It is about 3400 feet in elevation which isn't very high but when you're starting from sea level it is quite an accomplishment.  He was told by some guides that it would take 6-8 hours.  A girl at the visitor center said it would take 4-6 depending on how fast you are.  Tony told her that he is pretty fast so she said he would probably do it it 4.  His actual time was about 3 hours.  The record time for this hike is 1 hour and 15 minutes.  He did pretty good for being the day before his 40th birthday.  I have always told him that he is part mountain goat.
