Hiking Seefin Mountain
Our hike started at Kerry Way. The road started out paved and it barely felt like we were going uphill. Before long the terrain changed to gravelly, then rocky, and pretty soon there was no denying that we were going uphill. The scenery could not be more picturesque. When we crested the summit we had a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. The last half of the hike was downhill past lovely cottages, sprawling fields, wildflowers and old ruins. The hike ended in the village of Glenbeigh where we had Irish Stew in a pub where two girls, about 8-10 years old, were serving drinks behind the bar. It was strange for us to see but pubs are very much a part of their culture and kids are welcome in all pubs. While we were eating our lunch an Irish drunk came and sat by us and talked to us for a while. He was very entertaining and friendly and I'm glad we got to meet him. One of his favorite phrases was, "Oh for 'f' sake". He said the real word which I know is offending but for some reason when he said it, it was funny. Probably because of the accent.
