The Cliffs of Moher
August 16, 2012
The cliffs of Moher were probably one of the most awe inspiring sights that we saw, in my opinion. They span about 3 miles and we walked from one end to the other and back again. On one end of the cliffs is a tower that was built in the 1840's or 50's by some English guy who built it for tourist to view the cliffs from the roof. On the other end is an old fort that was destroyed during the Napoleonic wars. You can visit the tower and everything is paved and safe. Walking in the other direction the safe path eventually ends and you continue on at your own risk to the old fort. We, of course, continued on at our own risk.
This is the tower.

Looking back at the tower.
This is called "the stack". Probably because it looks like a stack of rocks.
The old fort.
This is part of the walk on the way to the fort. There were a few places that if you made one wrong step, you would fall to your death.
Looking up at the roof of the old fort.
Tony climbing the old fort.
